Voice Teachers for 2012

Workshops are offered twice each day and are a wonderful way to experience the joy of singing together, explore your voice, discover harmony and learn beautiful songs with our teachers Bruce Knight, Su Lewis, Maya Waldman and Chrys Blanchard. To learn more about our fantastic voice teachers, please read on.

Bruce Knight

Bruce Knight has been running singing workshops since 2000. He is
known for his upbeat and energetic style, and his love of songs with
simple dances or movement. Bruce runs the 100-strong Songlines
Community Choir in Warwick and Leamington Spa, and is a regular
teacher at the Unicorn Natural Voice Camp.  In 2003 Bruce travelled to
Sierra Leone to learn Mende gospel songs.  He enjoys creating his own
harmony arrangements for acappella groups, and also leads a weekly
circle dance group.  Bruce is a member of the Natural Voice
Practitioner’s Network.

Chrys Blanchard

Chrys is a freelance composer, choir leader and percussionist, whose professional work calls upon the great diversity of skills she has acquired after more than 25 years in the performing arts. She creates and directs projects, training and workshops for theatre, education, the health service and community groups. Chrys has a particular interest in sound healing, and the effects of sound and music in our lives. She runs 2 community choirs in Abergavenny, and various monthly drop-in groups, as well as guesting at other events.

On camp Chrys will be leading Find Your Voice sessions. In these she will create a safe space for people to explore the very root of how we make sound with our voices, finding our optimum resonance and building confidence as we build our voices.

Su Lewis

Su has been singing all her life. She has been a natural voice teacher
since 2003. She leads Island Voices Community Choir on Portland in
Dorset, runs drop in workshops, sings in choirs and a women’s singing
group, and writes and arranges songs for small groups and choirs. She
is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners Network and for the
last two years has organised and led the Dorset Community Choir
Festival.  Su teaches a variety of songs, from her own compositions to
old favourites, ranging in mood from calm and contemplative to high
energy numbers with luscious harmonies.

Maya Waldman

Maya teaches a global repertoire of fun, relaxing and uplifting songs in harmony, she is energetic and inspiring and teaches vocal and physical exercises designed to wake up the body and open the voice. She has been facilitating singing groups since 2005, runs the thriving community choir, Song Works, in London and is a regular teacher at Dance Camp Wales and Shambala Festival. Maya works in the health sector teaching singing and vocal technique to people with breathing difficulties and also as a resource for pregnancy and labour.
